ATLAS | ISME\u2019s Leadership Series 2023 featured Aishwarya Raigopal, Senior Content Writer, Performics India. Aishwarya conducted an insightful session on \u2018ChatGPT : Writing on the wall for the future\u2019 for our management students. The session covered pros and cons of ChatGPT, an AI chatbot developed by San Francisco-based startup OpenAI. We bring you some of the most interesting insights and takeaways from the session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ChatGPT is the talk of the town. But why?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

ChatGPT has become mega-popular in just a matter of weeks\u2014way faster than social media platforms like TikTok or Instagram. Only two months after its launch in late November 2022, the chatbot had 100 million monthly active users in January 2023. For context, it took Instagram two and a half years to reach 100 million. TikTok got there in nine months. OpenAI, which owns and hosts ChatGPT, recently became one of the 50 most visited websites in the world, according to SimilarWeb data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the main reason for ChatGPT\u2019s popularity is its accessibility. Anyone can use it via the OpenAI website- be it the students looking for help with their projects or marketers trying to generate ad copies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

However, it\u2019s not always safe to reply on the responses generated by ChatGPT because it comes with its own set of limitations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Limitations of ChatGPT<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

  • May occasionally generate incorrect information<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • May occasionally produce harmful instructions or biased content<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Limited knowledge of world and events after 2021<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    While demonstrating the limitations of ChatGPT to the students, Aishwarya posed a question to the chatbot- \u2018Tell me about Elon Musk\u2019. The result indicated that the chatbot has no idea that Elon musk has bought twitter and the events thereafter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Can ChatGPT replace search engines?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    ChatGPT is a language model focused on conversational interactions and providing direct answers to the questions. It can complement search engines by providing more personalised and intuitive ways to find information, but it is not designed to replace search engines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    ChatGPT is just another tool like knife. You can use it to butter some bread or hurt yourself with it. It\u2019s all in how you use it.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

    Is ChatGPT the future of content writing?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    ChatGPT has a great potential to impact content creation by making it faster and easier for people to generate written text. The model\u2019s ability to understand and generate human-like text can help automate certain writing tasks, such as summarising articles, answering questions and even generate creative writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    However, it is important to note that while ChatGPT can be valuable tool for content creation. It is not intended to replace human writers or creativity. This model can be best used as a support to assist with generating ideas, research and formatting while still requiring human editors and creative writers to bring a unique perspective and voice to the content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    While ChatGPT is a powerful tool for content creation, it is not necessarily the future of content writing on its own. However, it can help writers and marketers to create and distribute content more efficiently and effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Users would always prefer new, fresh ideas and insights over the re-worded content. Creativity is an innate ability of humans that requires imagination, intuition and emotional intelligence and cannot be replicated or duplicated by a machine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

    • While chatbots are impressive, they still lack the ability to generate truly original ideas, concepts and experiences. AI uses algorithms based on tons of old data created by humans.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • AI programs do not eliminate jobs. They grow business and make jobs easier.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
