On day 2 of the global immersion program, students from ATLAS SkillTech University embarked on an exciting global immersion journey to the prestigious University of Bath. The purpose of this visit was to gain valuable insights into the world of entrepreneurship, explore cutting-edge research, and understand the significance of failure and recovery in operations and supply networks. This immersion program promised to be a transformative experience for the students, broadening their horizons and equipping them with practical knowledge and skills for their future endeavors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day began with an enlightening briefing by the esteemed Associate Dean of the University of Bath, Dr. Robert Anderson<\/strong>. He passionately shared his role within the university and highlighted its exceptional rankings, including being named the current University of the Year. Dr. Anderson emphasised that an impressive 94.7 percent of the research faculty is considered world-class, setting a high standard for academic excellence. Furthermore, he provided an overview of the university’s distinguished master’s programs, showcasing the myriad of opportunities available to the students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the briefing, the students had the privilege of hearing from two influential figures, Ben Smith<\/strong>, the Head of Placements, Projects, and International Studies, and Matthew Rusling<\/strong>, the Head of PGT and MBA Programs. They delved into the world of entrepreneurship, offering valuable insights and practical guidance. An alumni case study was presented, showcasing the success of an alumnus who became an entrepreneur. Mr. Smith and Mr. Rusling also introduced the students were also introduced to various societies such as the Bath Entrepreneurship Society, Bath Unlimited, Enactus, and the School Alumni Network. These societies provide a fertile ground for networking and support for students’ business ideas and aspirations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the afternoon, the esteemed Dr. Alistair Brandon Jones<\/strong>, an expert in operations and supply networks delivered a masterclass. With a wealth of experience and multiple degrees to his name, including a PhD, PGDIP and BSc Hons, Dr. Brandon Jones captivated the audience with his insightful lecture. His session on “When Operations and Supply Networks Fail.”, shed light on the importance of understanding failure. He also decoded the impact of failure on customer responses & the value chain. Through captivating case studies, he explored the concept of perceived justice, distributive justice, procedural justice and international justice. Dr. Brandon Jones emphasised the power of preventing failures and shared his wisdom. He stated, “Little things make a big difference over time.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
