Biography

Dr. Lakshmi Mohan serves as the Pro Vice Chancellor of ITM Skills University, Kharghar (appointed August 2023), and concurrently holds the role of Director of ITM Business School, Navi Mumbai. With over 24 years of experience in higher education leadership, she began her journey at institutions including Times, ICFAI, and Elbee Logistics, and has led ITM campuses across Chennai and Navi Mumbai. Dr. Mohan holds a PhD in Management, postgraduate degrees in Education Management, Human Resource Management, and a Master’s in English Literature.

A visionary in skill-based education, she advocates a student-centric, experiential learning model, integrating live projects, five-month industry internships, and industry-guided curricula via a Board of Advisors. Under her leadership, ITM has established centres of excellence in research, policy, sustainability, and innovation, fostering entrepreneurship through incubation cells and NGO internships.

Dr. Mohan’s contributions have been widely recognized: she received the Apeejay Karmaveer Chakra (2014), NSA’s Woman Achiever Award, HEF’s Best Emerging Director Award (2015), the FAS Stree Ratna Award (2017), and numerous other honors including the Heartfulness Professor Award and the Teacher‑as‑Nation‑Builder Award.

Her leadership continues to shape ITM into a globally competitive university focused on employability, ethical values, and societal impact.
