Biography
Dr. Rajan Saxena is a distinguished Indian academic and management expert with a career spanning over four decades. He is renowned for his contributions to marketing education, institution building, and leadership in higher education.
Dr. Saxena completed his undergraduate studies at Shri Ram College of Commerce, followed by a doctoral degree from the Delhi School of Economics. He began his academic career at XLRI - Xavier School of Management and subsequently held significant leadership positions, including Director of S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research and ICFAI Business School, Gurgaon. Notably, he was the founding Director of the Indian Institute of Management, Indore, where he served from 1996 until 2003.
In 2009, Dr. Saxena was appointed Vice Chancellor of SVKM's Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) in Mumbai, a role he held until 2020. During his tenure, he was instrumental in expanding NMIMS's footprint by establishing campuses in Bengaluru and Hyderabad and introducing new schools such as the School of Economics and the School of Law.
An accomplished author, Dr. Saxena has published over 70 articles in national and international journals and has written two notable books on marketing management. His expertise encompasses strategic marketing, services marketing, and brand management. Beyond academia, he has consulted for leading Indian firms, including Reliance Energy and Larsen & Toubro.
Dr. Saxena's contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the BERG Education Award (2014), Dr. Suresh Ghai Memorial Award (2013), DNA Hall of Fame Award, and the ET Now Visionary Leadership Award (2013).
Currently, Dr. Saxena is the Co-founder of The Open EdWorks (TOE), focusing on advancing educational methodologies and practices.
