Session Chair Guidelines

  1. Each paper is allotted 12 minutes for presentation and 3 minutes for Q&A.
  2. A session chair will be assigned to each presentation session.
  3. The session organizer will invite the chair to the podium.
  4. The chair must remind presenters of their time limits (12 minutes for presentation, 3 minutes for discussion and transition).
  5. At the start of each presentation, the chair should announce the paper title, author(s), and speaker’s affiliation.
  6. A volunteer will assist with timekeeping, using placards to indicate 5 minutes, 2 minutes, and time up.
  7. If time permits, the chair should invite audience questions. If none arise, the chair should engage the speaker with relevant questions.
  8. At the end of the session, the chair should announce the next session and hand over the podium to the session organizer.
