Education for Empowerment: ATLAS Students Join Hands with Aseema Charitable Trust

At the heart of inclusive development lies education that is accessible, engaging and empowering. In line with this belief, students from ATLAS SkillTech University recently partnered with the Aseema Charitable Trust, a not-for-profit organisation committed to providing quality education to children from marginalised communities across Mumbai and rural Igatpuri.
This collaboration formed part of the university’s Social Impact Project initiative, allowing students to apply their creativity, empathy and communication skills to support children in building strong foundations in literacy, numeracy and self-expression.
Aseema: Creating Educational Spaces
Aseema Charitable Trust has long been recognised for its work in transforming the educational experiences of children living in challenging circumstances. By adopting under-resourced municipal schools and integrating them with a holistic curriculum, the organisation ensures that every child receives the academic and emotional support they need to flourish.
Operating in both urban and rural contexts, Aseema focuses on building core competencies in reading, writing and arithmetic, while also nurturing the creative and cultural development of its students.
The ATLAS Experience: Learning Through Teaching

ATLAS students engaged with children at Aseema’s centres to support their learning in practical, impactful ways. The sessions included:
• Language and Literacy – Strengthening comprehension and communication in Hindi, Marathi, and English through interactive reading exercises, storytelling, and writing tasks.
• Numeracy Support – Helping students improve their mathematical understanding using games, real-life examples, and group problem-solving activities.
• Handwriting and Sentence Formation – Supporting students in developing structured thinking, coherence, and confidence in written communication.
Beyond academic skills, ATLAS students acted as mentors, role models and empathetic facilitators encouraging children to ask questions, express themselves, and believe in their own potential.
A Shared Journey of Growth

This collaboration was as enriching for the students as it was for the children. Working in resource-constrained environments taught ATLAS students the importance of adaptability, patience, and human-centred thinking. They were able to see how education, when delivered with compassion and consistency, can alter the course of a child’s life.
Investing in Futures, One Lesson at a Time
Through their work with Aseema Charitable Trust, ATLAS SkillTech University students contributed to more than academic outcomes, they became part of a movement to bridge learning gaps and widen access to opportunity.
The project stands as a testament to ATLAS’s mission of shaping future-ready professionals who lead with empathy, engage with purpose, and create meaningful impact in society.
