Participants of the Immersion

A total of 111 participants (students and faculty) embarked on the National immersion to
Bangalore.

Information Session

An information session was held prior to the immersion on Monday, 14th November 2022 from
12.30pm to 2pm. This session was led by Dr. Malcolm Homavazir and was attended by all faculty
members and students. It was done to make the students understand the travel procedures, complete
itinerary and to familiarise them with certain guidelines and code of conduct.

Objectives of the Immersion:

  1. Campus Tour & Interactive Session with Expert Faculty at IIM Bangalore.
  2. Understanding the Manufacturing Process at Blue Neem Medical Devices Pvt. Ltd.
  3. Witnessing one of India’s Largest Electronic / IT Hub, the Bangalore Electronic City and understanding its importance and contribution.
  4. Experiencing the Corporate Work Culture, Corporate Learning Environment & Business Process Management at Infosys Campus, Bangalore.

DAY 1 – Thursday, 17th November 2022

Students and faculty successfully onboarded their respective flights from T1 Chhatrapati Shivaji
International Airport and arrived at Bangalore Airport by noon after which they proceeded towards
Hotel Howard Johnson by Wyndham Bengaluru where their stay was arranged in luxurious rooms
on dual-sharing basis. After freshening up, students were served sumptuous lunch, a lavish buffet
spread consisting of soups, starters, salads, main course and desserts catering to students and faculty
with various meal preferences.

Post lunch, everyone was smartly dressed in formal attire, excited for their first visit to IIM
Bangalore.

Students interacted with 2 phenomenal professors with outstanding insights at IIM, Bangalore. They
were addressed by Prof. Ganesh Prabhu and Dr. Aditya Gupta.

Prof. Ganesh Prabhu (Chairperson, Strategy) provided an overview of IIM-B and its Academic
Initiatives.

Dr. Aditya Gupta (the Chief Operations Officer at the Supply Chain Management Centre)
explained about all Centres of Excellence at IIM Bangalore.

This was followed by the spectacular campus tour at IIM Bangalore. Students witnessed locations
of a box-office success film – 3 Idiots and papped some pictures with faculty and friends.

Lastly, after such a busy yet eventful day, students are pumped for the DJ evening and dinner to
create more memories together!

DAY 2 – Friday, 18th November, 2022

After an eventful day at IIM Bangalore, students were looking forward to the next day. The day
began with a surprise birthday celebration of Jineet Kayani (student). Students later proceeded for
memorable experiences at two distinct locations:

  • Patel Inns Resort
  • Blue Neem Medical Devices Manufacturing Facility

PATEL’S INN RESORT

Referred to as Nature Reserve, the resort has leisure activities like a swimming pool, billiards, table
tennis, badminton and a restaurant set in a tropical ambience. Patel’s Inn is known for its unique
features like Race Pace Karting, the only asphalted Go-karting track in the city.
At the resort, students were thrilled to experience Go-Karting, (completely complimentary) with
their friends on one of the biggest tracks there is, in Bangalore. Students were engaged in other
games such as dodge ball, football and badminton. Apart from that, there were unique laser games
that augment team work, strategy and problem solving.

BLUE NEEM MEDICAL EQUIPMENTS PVT LTD.

After lunch, students were dressed in formal attire to visit Blue Neem Medical Equipment
Manufacturing Unit.

Students were fortunate to interact with the key officials from the senior leadership team of Blue
Neem Medical Equipment Pvt. Ltd.

Mr. Vishnu Bhat, Chairman and Managing Director of Blue Neem set context by explaining that
80% of all medical devices are imported to India. He described the purpose of the facility and shared
his corporate work experience filled with challenges and his overall entrepreneurial life journey in
the medical industry.

Mr. Sandeep S, Head of Research and Development demonstrated the importance of design,
ergonomics and testing of medical devices at Blue Neem Medical Instruments Manufacturing Unit.
He also explained how feedback is collected from medical professionals and how improvements are
made in the design and ergonomics of the medical equipment to ensure the safety of the patients.
This also leads to being the preferred brand and maintaining the competitive edge in the medical
industry.

Mr. Krishna Chaitanya, Senior officer of Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance led students
on a tour of the Packing Room, Labelling Facility, Finished Goods Storage Area and the rest of the
facility.

Students were also provided knowledge about the Air Lock Room where the air flow is controlled
so as to ensure that air only moves outside the room while opening the door. No outside air can go
inside the Air Lock Room. There were multiple Class 7 Clean Rooms to ensure dust free air (less
than 25 microns) during the manufacturing and packaging process.

DAY 3 – Saturday, 19th November, 2022

The most awaited visit to Infosys BPM Limited finally arrived on Day 3. As soon as students
arrived, they were enchanted with the Electronic City, an information technology hub in Bangalore,
India, located in Anekal taluk. It is one of India’s largest electronic/IT industrial parks, spread over
800 acres. At Infosys, students were charmed with the beautiful and serene infrastructure.

Students and faculty were graciously greeted by the Infosys BPM staff and were taken on a long
campus tour followed by a session on ‘Experiencing the Corporate Work Culture, Corporate
Learning Environment & Business Process Management at Infosys.’

Later, the students and faculty were offered tea and snacks post which everyone assembled in a
large auditorium.

Ms. Shalini Jayakrishnan – Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and CSR Professional at Infosys BPM
addressed the gathering and provided the audience with an overview of Infosys BPM.

as substantiated by the various HR-specific awards it has won over the years.

Later the audience was further addressed by Mr. Gibu Babu.

Mr. Gibu Babu is the Client Operations Head at Infosys BPM. He shared his life journey and
insights on BPM Industry – Careers and Opportunities.
He introduced the audience to Infosys Springboard which is a free platform that brings digital and
life skills to lifelong learners in India. Delivered free through Infosys CSR commitment to
empowering 10 million-plus people with digital skills by 2025, it provides a holistic set of courses,
developed in collaboration with world-leading digital educators like Coursera and Harvard Business
Publishing. It is fully aligned with India’s National Education Policy 2020.

The learning program is particularly well-suited to grow vocational skills in addition to soft skills. Masterclasses, programing challenges, practice areas, and playgrounds for experimentation make the training immersive for all. The assessment formats that follow are new-age ready with certification for
learners who pass the virtual proctored examination. Nearly 400,000 learners and 300+ education
institutions, NGOs, and support groups are already onboard Infosys Springboard.

The visit to Infosys BPM Limited concluded with lunch and birthday celebration of Agrata Agarwal
(student).

As students and faculty returned back to Mumbai, they reflected on the 3 days they spent together
at Bangalore. The entire journey surpassed their expectations as they derived great learnings and
created even greater memories!
