ATLAS ISDI – School of Design & Innovation, a beacon of innovation and excellence, recently hosted an event that marked the beginning of an exciting journey for its accepted students. The Post Graduate Program in Design & Innovation (PGDI) welcomed its new batch with open arms, as they embarked on a transformative educational voyage that promises to redefine the boundaries of design, culture, technology and innovation. The Accepted Students Day was a celebration of the ATLAS SkillTech University’s commitment to nurturing creativity, fostering industry connections and instilling a passion for cutting-edge learning.

A Glimpse into the Day’s Agenda

The Accepted Students Day was a meticulously curated experience that gave prospective students and their parents a tantalising taste of life at ATLAS ISDI. The day commenced with a warm welcome from Prof Gourav Keswani, the Program Director of PGDI. Prof Keswani’s words resonated with promise, emphasising the program’s dedication to quality education, networking and countless opportunities for growth. He set the tone for the students’ journey, preparing them for an extraordinary educational adventure.

The students were introduced to the enriching courses awaiting them in the first trimester, including subjects like Design Thinking, User Experience Design, Speculative Mindset and Maker’s Studio – Game Design, among others. They got acquainted with the faculty members who would guide them through these immersive courses.

A Vision for Growth and Innovation

As the day unfolded, the esteemed leadership of ATLAS SkillTech University took the stage to share their vision for the students. Dr. Rajan Welukar, the Vice Chancellor expressed his happiness and excitement in welcoming the new batch of PGDI students. He conveyed that this momentous occasion was not only a significant opportunity for students to embark on a transformative learning journey but also a chance for the educators to learn and grow alongside them.

Prof Heena Thakkar, the Pro Vice Chancellor, expressed her hope that the students’ journey at ATLAS would culminate in a grand exhibition of their ideas, projects and technological achievements. This sentiment underscored the university’s commitment to nurturing each student’s creative spark and turning it into a beacon of innovation.

Prof Anando Dutta, the Dean of ATLAS ISDI School of Design & Innovation, painted a vivid picture of what the PGDI program entails. He described it as a captivating blend of design, culture, technology and innovation – a melting pot of diverse experiences that would foster growth and collaboration. Prof Dutta emphasised that this journey wouldn’t be without its challenges, yet he highlighted the exhilaration of embracing the profession of design with unwavering curiosity and determination.

Beyond the Numbers: Diversity and Excellence

Alok Baptist, Director of Outreach & Admissions, presented a captivating snapshot of the incoming batch’s demographics. The statistics painted a picture of diversity and excellence, with a blend of genders, backgrounds and experiences. The class is comprised of 75% girls and 25% boys, with an average age of 22 years. Notably, 67% of students bring with them work or internship experience, enriching the program with real-world insights. The students hail from varied academic backgrounds, such as commerce, science, management and technology, bringing unique perspectives to the creative landscape.

Bridging Academia and Industry: Career Services

Sharmeen Honey, Deputy Director of Career Services, shed light on the symbiotic relationship between academia and industry at ATLAS SkillTech University. She stressed the vital role of career services in connecting students with internships, Capstone Projects, career fairs and placements. The comprehensive profile mapping approach ensures that each student is equipped with the industry-relevant skills that define success. The illustrious alumni network, with representatives in prominent companies such as HDFC BANK, Siemens, Deloitte, KPMG, Infosys and more, serves as a testament to the program’s efficacy.

Program Schedule and Peer Interaction

Prof Jai Ranjit shared a glimpse of the upcoming two weeks, offering students a preview of what lies ahead. Sessions on mixed media, product visualisation, critical thinking, storytelling and a field trip promise an immersive experience that bridges theory and practice.

Yet, the highlight of the day was the interaction between the incoming batch and the current students. This peer-to-peer exchange offered invaluable insights into the program’s rigors and rewards, fostering camaraderie and setting the stage for a supportive learning environment.
