Students with their mentor Siddharth Madan

Our Fashion Design, Fashion Communication & Styling and Fashion Luxury & Lifestyle Design students soaked into the best of experiential learning in the Mecca of fashionistas – Paris as they interned and learnt innovative tools and techniques from some of the best-experienced stylists and experts and habituated to advanced equipment for practice for different shows in Paris Couture Week.

Experiencing and being a part of Paris Fashion Week was phenomenal. We got an opportunity to work backstage to be a part of the chaos. It was lovely. We were a part of 4 different shows out of which two were presentations and the rest two were runways. I loved the idea of conceptualising and connecting better with the audience. We were exposed to different brands with completely different aesthetics and morals.

Attending the Paris Couture Week was an unforgettable experience that definitely put things into perspective for a confused soul like me. The shows taught me something new giving me lessons that garnered interests within me. I was assigned a different role at each show which allowed me to perform various tasks going out of my comfort zone. Attending the couture week and being a part of this experience is something I’ll be forever grateful for!

Gunther

The first brand our students worked with was GUNTHER, a world of its own, high fashion, bold colours and massive trends. GUNTHER is a men’s fashion brand founded in Paris by Naomi Gunther and Gabin Ducourant. The designers question very early on the codes of men’s fashion through audacious collections and a strong attention to detail. Particularly sensitive to textures, the designer defends a style that is effortlessly chic in all circumstances, timeless and remarkable. Made in France, crafted in Parisian workshops, the brand showcased French know-how and advocated for a responsible and ethical fashion.

Our students interned here in PR marketing team where they got an opportunity to interact and interview different designers, influencers and talented people from industry.

White Mountaineering

WHITE MOUNTAINEERING by Japanese Fashion designer Yosuke Aizawa displayed discipline, great work ethic and unique layering. In this collection, the designer used traditional sartorial fabrics, cutting them into more relaxed options or buffering them with more technical ones, making them suitable for cold weather. The cuts also included “more mobility,” with ease of movement incorporated into the shape of an arm or adding openings. Highlights of the collection included textured trousers that hit the sweet spot between joggers and slacks, an attractive vest, and most of the coats.

ATLAS | ISDI students interned for this show as dressers where they witnessed everything from hair and makeup, rehearsals to the final show. They learnt to organise the rack, accessories and chart with every small detail mentioned in a neat and tidy manner.

Arturo Obegero

The show ARTURO OBEGERO was sensual and displayed brilliant storytelling. Most of our students experienced a presentation style show like this for the first time. The presentation reflected the way in which fashion has the ability to empower men. It had a sensual and queer touch to it. Stimulated by performing arts as well as the surrealist and neo-noir movements, Arturo Obegero presented a romantic, sensual and severe wardrobe for men and women. Some of the garments were also constructed from theatre curtains.

Students also got a chance to interact with the designer himself. To be a part of this intense and beautiful show was one of its kind experience for our students.

Juana Martin

JUANA MARTIN

Through her collection Juana Martín presented her “Orígenes” collection, an ode to her Spanish and flamenco roots. This collection reflected the beginnings of her work in fabrics and prints, and also offered an accurate result to her flamenco style, with a more avant-garde touch. The outfits were ethereal and it was a dreamy lineup with everything from chiffon gowns to sculptural pieces to oversized jackets worn as mini dress.

The final show which our students were a part of showcased an exceptional collection with stunning details on the garments.

Clara Daguin

CLARA DAGUIN outfits were interactive crafted using embroidery and technology.

Students experienced a completely different atmosphere at CLARA DAGUIN’s backstage. From last minute stitching to technical work, there was all of it. They helped set up the venue, assisted in styling and dressing, as per the tasks assigned to them.

Elsa Schiaparelli Exhibition

Students visited an exhibition dedicated to the career of Elsa Schiaparelli, the Italian fashion designer behind bold designs worn by royalty, socialites and top models. The museum offers an extensive retrospective of Schiaparelli’s craft. The exhibition also shows paintings, sculptures, jewelry, perfumes, ceramics, posters and photographs by Schiaparelli’s dear friends.
