Jai Shah’s journey as an entrepreneur and his educational/work achievements are nothing short of inspiring. As an alumnus of the first batch of ATLAS ISME School of Management & Entrepreneurship, Jai Shah has embarked on a remarkable entrepreneurial venture in the gaming and Esports industry.

Orangutan Gaming

Co-founding Orangutan Gaming Pvt. Ltd., Jai Shah aimed to create a culture of Esports in Indian society and bring the Indian Esports industry on par with the global one. Orangutan Gaming is an Esports franchise that has recruited players from around the world to represent the organisation in tournaments. Similar to franchises in the Premier League, Orangutan has players competing in games like BGMI, FreeFire and Valorant with both men’s and women’s line-ups for Valorant.

Growth of the venture

Within its first year, Orangutan Gaming managed to secure numerous tournament victories, solidifying its position in the competitive esports environment. Currently, the organisation boasts a team of over 70 individuals across five different departments. To further enhance their operations, the team is building a 15,000 sq. ft. facility known as The Forest in Navi Mumbai’s Parsik Hill, which will serve as a new home for more than 20 players.

The foundation

The foundation of Jai Shah’s successful entrepreneurial journey lies in his days at ISME, where he was exposed to a strong entrepreneurial culture. This experience fuelled his curiosity and led him to pursue an MSc in Entrepreneurship and Management from the University of Bath in 2019. His return to India marked the co-founding of Orangutan Gaming Pvt. Ltd. alongside his friend Yash Bhanushali. Jai’s purpose in starting Orangutan Gaming is to recognise the potential of esports athletes, provide them with deserving opportunities and uplift them in their respective fields, while promoting new and unconventional ideas with a sense of professionalism. His ultimate goal is to create an organisation that leaves a lasting mark in the history of Esports.

Other Work experiences

Apart from his entrepreneurial journey, Jai Shah has gained valuable work experience in various roles. He worked as a Project Manager for India’s International Movement to Unite Nations, displaying his ability to handle complex projects and contribute to international initiatives. He also interned as a Project Management professional at Percept Ltd and served as a Research Analyst at Samco Securities Limited, showcasing his versatility and adaptability in different domains.

Jai Shah’s commitment to personal and professional growth is evident in his continuous pursuit of knowledge and involvement in various ventures. He served as a Market Researcher at High Fliers Research Limited in London, England and worked as a Business Strategist at BHyve. Additionally, Jai woked with The Alpha Urbane Project, holding positions such as Assistant General Manager and Head of Operations, demonstrating his leadership and managerial skills.

Contributions as a mentor

Recognised for his expertise and knowledge, Jai Shah has been serving as a Visiting Faculty at ISM GLOBE and ATLAS ISME School of Management & Entrepreneurship. His contributions extend beyond academia, as he mentors aspiring individuals at Leverage Edu and Sporjo. Additionally, he has taken on the role of a Visiting Faculty at Hero Vired, further solidifying his position as an influential figure in the education and gaming industries.

Educational Achievements

Jai Shah’s educational achievements include an MSc in Entrepreneurship and Management from the University of Bath, where he excelled with a merit grade. He completed his undergraduate studies at ISME School of Management & Entrepreneurship, specialising in Business Management and Entrepreneurship. Throughout his educational journey, Jai actively participated in extracurricular activities and held significant positions, such as President of STAGE and Chairperson of ILLENIUM, showcasing his leadership and organisational skills.
