In her engaging opening address, Dr. Indu Shahani expressed her anticipation for dynamic interactions between faculty and students. With a legacy spanning over a decade, combining the strengths of ISME and ISDI, ATLAS SkillTech University emerged as a beacon of education, particularly during the pandemic.

Dr. Shahani emphasised the importance of creating globally acclaimed universities where students yearn to study. Dr. Shahani highlighted the university’s commitment to the principles outlined in the National Education Policy, fostering interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary learning. In his keynote address, Dr. Rajan Welukar shed light on ATLAS as an exemplary educational institution, one that serves as a model for others to emulate. With a staggering 50,000 higher learning institutions in India, only 28% of the population currently has access to higher education. Dr. Welukar stressed the urgency of reaching 50% enrolment by 2035, a daunting task that requires collective efforts.

He posed essential questions: “Why study in India? How is India evolving? What role can we play in this transformation?” Dr. Welukar proposed that by establishing educational institutions like ATLAS, which offer comprehensive and top-tier education, we can instil pride in our country, our people, our schools, colleges and our educators among our students.

Highlighting the influx of approximately 3 crore young individuals into higher education in India in the coming 10 years, Dr. Welukar emphasised that India is destined to become a prominent global learning hub. He urged the audience to prioritise assisting, guiding and empowering students to choose the best institutions within their own country, fostering a brighter future for all.

Prof. Bulbul Chaudhary’s Insightful Presentation on ATLAS SkillTech University

Following the keynote address, Prof. Bulbul Chaudhary took the stage to emphasise ATLAS SkillTech University’s significant role in shaping the nation’s future. She introduced attendees to the university and its three distinct schools: ATLAS ISDI – School of Design & Technology, ATLAS ISME – School of Management & Entrepreneurship, and ATLAS uGDX – School of Technology. Prof. Chaudhary delved into the comprehensive programs offered across these schools, highlighting ATLAS’s commitment to industry-integrated, multidisciplinary education, its global reach and the exciting internship and placement opportunities it provides.

Shevaun Pimenta, an ATLAS ISDI student who hosted the conference, enthusiastically shared her educational journey in India. She emphasised the myriad benefits of pursuing her undergrad studies in the country. Studying in Mumbai allowed her to delve into diverse fields of study, gaining a global perspective and exploring various design styles. This experience helped her grow personally and professionally, including giving guest lectures and collaborating with industry experts. She valued the flexibility to pursue internships, work on real-world projects and expand her horizons beyond design. She also appreciated the exposure to stock markets, investing and private equity research. The diverse student body and global immersion projects further broadened her outlook. Studying in Mumbai provided the comfort of her home state while nurturing her entrepreneurial spirit.
