Spreading Diwali Joy and Serenity: RC ATLAS’ Heartwarming Initiatives

The festival of Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is a time of joy, togetherness and celebration for millions across India and the world. Diwali is a time to share happiness and create cherished memories, not just for ourselves but for those less privileged too. The Rotaract Club of ATLAS (RC ATLAS) took this sentiment to heart and embarked on two heartwarming initiatives just before Diwali 2023, spreading joy and serenity to those who need it the most.
RC ATLAS Dil se Dilwali: Bringing Diwali Delight to Young Hearts

Under their annual initiative “UDAAN,” the Rotaract Club of ATLAS launched the “Dil se Dilwali” project, a touching effort to make the festival of Diwali truly special for underprivileged children. The project took them to the serene village of Bhopali in Palghar, where over 150 children eagerly awaited the festivities.
The day started with an artistic flourish as each child created a Diwali card, a token of love and affection that would find its way to their families and friends. The joy in their eyes was unmistakable as they put their creative skills to work.
Next up was a diya (lamp) painting activity, and here the children’s artistic talents shone brightly. With vivid colours and intricate designs, they transformed simple clay diyas into beautiful works of art.
But it wasn’t all about art; the children also generously shared a piece of their culture with their guests. They taught the students from ATLAS a traditional dance of their village, leading to an afternoon filled with music, laughter, and lots of dancing.
The highlight of the day was, of course, the joy-filled meal with the children. It was not just a meal; it was an experience of love, compassion and the true spirit of Diwali. Seeing the children’s faces light up with happiness was a heart-warming experience, one that the students from ATLAS will cherish forever.
Music and Sound Therapy at Sadadevi Foundation Old Age Home

In another remarkable initiative, RC ATLAS partnered with Advait Danke, a spiritual life coach, to bring music therapy and sound therapy to the residents of the Sadadevi Foundation Old Age Home. This session proved to be a transformative experience for everyone involved.
Advait’s soothing presence and an introductory talk on mindfulness, spirituality and the healing power of sound and music set the stage for an evening of profound serenity. He began the session by introducing resonating singing bowls and the harmonic vibrations filled the room, gently massaging the hearts of the residents. For a brief moment, age and ailments seemed to fade into the background.
As the melodies from a piano flowed, the atmosphere in the room transformed. The subsequent sound therapy segment was nothing short of mesmerising, with sounds of Tibetan singing bowls, wind chimes and gentle ocean waves enveloping the room. These sounds resonated deep within, offering a sense of peace and tranquillity that transcended the boundaries of age and physical limitations.
The session concluded with a renewed sense of serenity in the room and the residents shared their thoughts, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to connect with their inner selves and for the wisdom and guidance of Advait Danke. It was an experience that left an indelible mark on their hearts.
