The Master of Design (M.Des) in Design Futures is a two-year multidisciplinary program that combines visual, product, and interaction design with social, cultural, and environmental perspectives to prepare students for the challenges of tomorrow. The curriculum integrates core courses, studio projects, and a year-long thesis, allowing students to explore areas such as sustainable design, speculative design, data visualization, and design for social impact. Through a balance of research, experimentation, and collaboration with industry experts, the program encourages critical and creative thinking to develop innovative, future-oriented solutions that address complex global issues.

Semester 2 ATLAS Electives expand on sustainability, innovation, and real-world impact. Students design holistic systems, explore emerging technologies, gain industry experience, and develop professional portfolios to showcase their growth and creativity.

Systems Design focuses on understanding and designing complex, interconnected systems to create efficient and sustainable solutions.
Life - Cycle Design
Explore the design of experiences over time, focusing on the full lifecycle of products and services from creation to disposal
Innovator’s Studio
Innovator’s Studio fosters creativity and experimentation, encouraging innovative thinking to develop impactful design solutions.

Design for XR

Semester 3 & 4

Students build a strong foundation in design thinking, management principles, and research. The semester focuses on human-centered design, strategic thinking, and business fundamentals, while developing creative and analytical skills through drawing, imaging, and financial statement analysis.
Industry pathway
Gain real-world experience through a year-long professional immersion that may lead to a Pre-Placement
Offer. Alternatively, undertake two industry or capstone projects, or freelance across diverse clients and sectors to build practical exposure.
Entrepreneurship pathway
Develop your own venture through in-house or external incubation programs. You may choose to launch a startup offering a unique product or service, or establish an independent design or strategy consultancy.
Making pathway
Focus on creating tangible outcomes by patenting original designs or technological innovations, or by developing and launching your own product line, be it furniture, lighting, garments, ceramics, or other design-oriented products.
Research pathway
Contribute to knowledge creation by publishing books, research articles, or papers in recognized journals,
magazines, and academic platforms.
Experimental pathway
Explore unconventional approaches through disruptive, exploratory projects that challenge industry norms from material innovation and filmmaking to craft documentation or social innovation initiatives.

Workshop on Neurodiversity: Different Minds; Same World Hosted by Yash Charitable Trust and Atlas Skilltech University
The workshop promoted empathy, inclusion, and awareness around neurodiversity through interactive activities and real-life examples.

Students completed a 3-day AI in Marketing bootcamp at ATLAS SkillTech University led by Prof. Rajesh Bhargave from Imperial College Business School, exploring AI’s role in marketing and developing StyleMate AI, a personalized fashion assistant.
