ABOUT THE VISIONARY ANANT BAJAJ
Anant Bajaj was a visionary. A businessman, nature-lover, athlete, patriot and an advocate of India’s youth. Besides these, he was a champion of learning and education.
Anant grew up, surrounded by pursuit of education, art and literature. After primary school at Cathedral and John Connon, Mumbai, he studied at Rishi Valley School, founded by philosopher J. Krishnamurti. Rishi Valley had a huge influence on his thinking; he discovered that academic excellence and artistic culture can go hand in hand. After his studies at HR College of Commerce, he did his MBA from SP Jain Institute. And later, attended the Owner President Management Program at Harvard Business School.
Son of Kiran and Shekhar Bajaj, Anant was Managing Director, Bajaj Electricals, Ltd. and the driving force behind award-winning organisational initiatives.
Anant was committed to technology, design innovation and futuristic solutions. He took the plunge into the digital world when most companies were uncertain. He launched AB SQUARE, an R&D facility that won an international award. He implemented the Theory of Constraints (TOC) and the Range Reach Expansion Program (RREP) which led to excellent distribution & outreach for the organisation. His aim was to weave technology with sustainable business goals.
To provide opportunities for young talent in India and abroad, Anant started BEAMS (Bajaj Entertainment, Arts, Music & Sports). As a tribute to his motherland, he built 100 Flag Mast poles in different parts of India.
Anant was open to all forms of learning. He would pick up a tune from a folk singer and learn a nursery rhyme from a child. With the same ease, he would discuss solar energy with world-renowned experts and sit down with business doyens to debate the socio-economic growth of India.
He continued to educate himself through books, work, life experiences and by surrounding himself with bright young people who were experts in their field.
Anant’s ethics, truthfulness and sense of justice guided his life and work. He was never afraid to express himself. His wish was for an India that had equal learning opportunities for all. Through the Anant Bajaj Memorial Scholarships for deserving young students in various disciplines, his dreams will carry on…
